Spiked Egg Nog Hot Cocoa

A warm, comforting holiday classic.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog Cream Liqueur
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)

How to make it

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together 1 1/2 cups whole milk, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Heat until hot but not boiling, whisking continuously.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 4 oz Penn Dutch Egg Nog Cream Liqueur and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the spiked hot chocolate into mugs.
  5. Top with whipped cream and, if desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg.
